Remain Positive No Matter What
There’s no doubting that from time to time we all suffer from a lack of confidence. While it is often great to have a glass half-full approach to life, there are always certain things that make having that attitude challenging.
The workplace is one in particular where being able to always find the positives from any situation can be tasking.
In fact, the number of people struggling to cope with the strains of the workplace are on the rise. On stress.org they recently reported a study which said that 80% of workers feel stress at work and nearly half said they needed help managing their stress levels.
Obviously, work lives are never exactly going to go as we planned and because of this, we have to be able to cope with anything that is thrown at us.
The famous Benjamin Franklin quote “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail” certainly rings true when discussing positive attitudes at work. If you are unable to find positives in everything that you do, you are certainly going to be less successful.
There’s no denying the self doubt that we all encounter during the working week, that’s why we could all use a little help from time to time.
Take a look at this new infographic from sleeypeople.com which does exactly that. It’s called ‘13 Ways To Remain Positive Whatever The Situation’ and you can take a look for yourself below.
It includes lots of little tips which you can apply to your daily life, from enjoying every little victory to keeping fit and healthy.

13 Ways To Remain Positive Whatever The Situation
When things get tough, we tend to think about what went wrong in the past as proof that things will be bad in the future too. By giving in to feeling fed up and hard done by, we can let ourselves wallow instead of looking for solutions, and improving the situation.
Luckily you can actually train your brain to think more positively, and it’s a skill that will help you hold it together through even the toughest of times.
Here are 13 things you should try to do, in order to live a more positive life.
Keep perspective
The world is not out to get you. Bad things happen to everyone, even good people. Don’t compare your life to the lives of other people, as for all you know they could be facing many hardships, but not showing the world. You are the only person in charge of how you react to situations.
Live in the now
Stop telling yourself that you’ll be happy when you have accomplished a specific goal, or earned so much money, or when you live in a certain place. Focus instead of being happy in the present moment, as your life is now.
Surround yourself with positive people
Having a good network of people who positively support you will help get you through the bad times, and share the good times. Pay attention to which people in your life are always negative about everything, and start spending less time with them.
Practice gratitude
When something positive happens, practice being grateful instead of surprised. When things aren’t going so well, take a look at the things you still have. Just because not every single thing is going well, doesn’t mean that your life isn’t still wonderful in other little ways.
Listen to positive music
Uplifting songs will do wonders for our mood. So often when people feel down they listen to music that mirrors their mood, but moping isn’t productive. Instead, put music on that mirrors the way you want to feel instead. You’ll be surprised how quickly you’re smiling again!
Take care of yourself
Looking after your health can make the biggest difference to your mood. By paying attention to your diet and energy levels, you will feel better equipped to deal with whatever life throws your way. Exercise is super important for overall wellness, and has been proven to improve your mood.
Be mindful
Keep yourself grounded by moving mindfully through your day. If you concentrate on the present moment, without judgement, you can avoid slipping into autopilot or dwelling on past mistakes or future worries. It also helps you to appreciate the things you are taking for granted.
“We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what’s wrong in your life or you can focus on what’s right.” – Marianne Williamson
Information sources
Think about the things you watch and read. Are they often negative? Taking in too much negativity can affect your view of the world. Unsubscribe from things that constantly drag you down, and don’t actively seek out bad news.
Do something nice for someone else
Making other people feel good will make you feel good too. If you do something nice for somebody, you will probably get a positive reaction, which is a great way to pick yourself up.
Enjoy the little things
Appreciate the little things in life that make you happy. Your favourite song coming on the radio, a nice sunny morning, or a green traffic light are all things that can be appreciated and paying attention to the little things will help you see the good in every situation.
Accept mistakes
Mistakes, once they have been made, cannot be changed. They can only be learned from. So accept what has happened, whether it was your mistake or somebody else’s, and look for ways to learn from the situation. Forgive others for not being perfect.
Let go
Don’t waste your energy on things that won’t matter down the line. Accept that you can’t always change someone’s mind, and holding on to an issue because you want to be right is only holding you back from enjoying the present moment. Choose to be happy instead.
Accept change
Change is the only thing we can truly rely on. Nothing will ever stay the same forever. You can either choose to see change as scary, or exciting. You should aim to be constantly improving both yourself and your situation, so change is an inevitable and positive part of life.
Practice these tips for maintaining a positive attitude, and you should be able to keep your head above water in even the most challenging situations. And remember – the best is yet to come!
