Somewhere Over The Rainbow Explained
Each one of us has a favourite colour. Let that be a toddler in arms or an old person on his death bed. Colours have played a great role in shaping up psychology right from our childhood. Everyone gets influenced, but not many of us know its significance? Not each one of us knows the reason of choosing a certain set of colours for decorating a home? Reason for this is not just because you find them appealing enough to decorate a room.
It has a science behind it! Human’s emotional association to colour is intriguing and is still being explored for a longer time. Colour theory comprises of different elements such as moral code, architecture exposure, physiology, political history of country, design preferences, human anatomy and optics. It takes a lot more than just studying about colours in general, as we said it’s a deep science.
The most imperative issue has been disarray between the conduct of light blends, called added substance shading, and the conduct of paint, ink, colour, or colour blends, called subtractive shading. This issue emerges on the grounds that the ingestion of light by material substances takes after various standards from the view of light by the eye.
A moment issue has been the inability to portray the vital impacts of solid luminance differentiates in the presence of hues reflected from a surface, rather than shades of light; “hues, for example, tans or ochre’s can’t show up in blends of light. Subsequently, a solid delicacy differentiate between a mid-esteemed yellow paint and an encompassing splendid white makes the yellow give off an impression of being green or dark coloured, while a solid brilliance differentiate between a rainbow and the encompassing sky makes the yellow in a rainbow have all the earmarks of being a fainter yellow, or white.
Emotions created by a particular colour scheme in a room are not accidental, that’s the reason choices for colours should not be random either. In this infographic, we have analysed all colours under the rainbow to explore more about the science behind colour and how one can use it to decorate their home with help of that additional information available here. Just makes sure that the new approach towards colours would be reflected in the decisions you take. Let us see the infographic below to understand colour theory better.

Colour theory explained.
“COLOUR ARE LIGHT’S SUFFERING AND JOY.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
USING COLOUR IN YOUR HOME
PLANNING OUR SURROUNDINGS TO MEET OUR NEEDS BEGINS WITH TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW COLOURS AFFECT US, BUT FEW PEOPLE SEE TWO COLOURS ALIKE.
PAST EXPERIENCES, AGE AND CULTURE, ALL PLAY A PART IN HOW WE PERCEIVE THEM TOO.
HOW COLOURS ARE SEEN IN DIFFERENT CULTURES.

SECONDARY Made by mixing 2 primary colours.
TETRIARY Combinations of primary and secondary colours.
5 TYPES OF COLOURS SCHEMES
COMPLEMENTARY Colours that are opposite each other on the colour wheel.
TETRADIC-RECTANGLE Uses four colours arranged into two complementary pairs.
ANALOGUES Colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel.
TRIADIC Colours that are evenly spaced around the colour wheel.
SPLIT COMPLEMENT A variation of the complementary scheme. In addition to the base colour, it uses the two colours adjacent to its components.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HUGE AND TONE?
HUE The brightest form of a colour. They have not been mixed with white, gray, or black.
TINT The hue mixed with white.
TONE The hue mixed with gray.
SHADE The hue mixed with black.
HOW TO USE A COLOUR SCHEME
1. START OFF BY CREATING A MOOD BOARD
This will give your creativity and thoughts a direction.
2. CHOOSE YOUR BASE COLOUR FIRST.
If you’re starting from scratch, this could be your favourite colour, or one you find calming or invigorating. Sometimes your colours might be slightly dictated by a specific piece of furniture or carpet that you already have, but don’t let that hold you back.
3. USE THE SCHEMES ABOVE TO HELP CHOOSE COLOURS THAT WORK TOGETHER.
HOW COLOURS INFLUENCE THE MIND
IT’S NOT JUST THE COLOURS THAT MATTER BUT THE NAMES OF THEM TOO. A STUDY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA AND RICE UNIVERSITY IN TEXAS, SHOWED THAT COLOUR SWATCHES WITH FANCY NAMES WERE PERCEIVED MUCH MORE FAVOURABLY THAN GENERIC NAMES.
IN OTHER WORDS, WE LOVE MOCHA, BUT HATE BROWN.
