How To Professionally Deal With Fake Bad Reviews
“Never read the comments!” – so goes one of the most pertinent of modern aphorisms, and in most cases you’d do well to trust it. But there’s one comment section that you need to keep a close eye on: the reviews column of your business’s online platform, be it your own website, Amazon, or any other joint.
That’s because the majority of customers read and trust those comments when they’re thinking about using your service. You don’t want them to come face to face with an unresolved complaint – especially if it’s a fake bad review submitted by your competitors.
An astonishing four out of five of us will read at least one fake review this year, yet most of us can’t tell the difference. As a professional, it’s your job to learn how. That means getting familiar with the way fake reviewers write (sensational and unreasonable) and the clues that give them away (such as leaving lots of bad reviews on lots of sites in a short amount of time).
Then it’s up to you to deal with them by reporting them to the site owner and confronting them, politely, with a reply. Doing so will help to straighten the record in the eyes of your genuine customers, who you can also get on your side by asking them to add their own positive reviews.
