Share Your Stories On Confessions of the Professions
When we began Confessions of the Professions over 7 years ago, we never thought it would have grown into the website it became. The popularity actually looks more like a wave instead of something that slowly rose or fell or flatlined. We heavily rely on people and marketing agencies who submit their articles and infographics to share their campaigns with their own following, while we utilize the tools we have as best as we can, posting on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Triberr, and a few RSS feeds.
We first began as a website that was focused mainly on rants about the workplace, but evolved into something more than that: we soon began accepting articles about general knowledge of the workplace and infographics containing information about all things that involved jobs, careers, and the workplace. If we had rejected these types of articles, we would not have become the website we did. However, somewhere along the line, despite our still posting many of our articles on the site, we lost our original intention: coming to a website to post about our workday, our job, or our career.
The whole intention of allowing this was to understand what it is like to live a day in the life in someone’s shoes, whether it was a police officer, a teacher, a lawyer, a doctor, a porn star, a webcam model, a mother, a father, a supervisor, or even the President of the United States. We wanted to know, firsthand, from your account, just what your day was like. Unfortunately, the platform of Confessions of the Professions did not evolve into allowing others to come post on the website. However, we accepted articles via email and through a form submission, and this has worked and still works to this day. We will still be keeping this as the primary means of our website, as there are just too many articles and infographics that need to be shared, and we remain the number one source to really express those facts or opinions.
Moving forward, we were trying to come up with a solution to allow anyone to come and post and tell their story without our full involvement. While we still have a community, we wanted to increase the feeling of community by allowing authors to contribute on Confessions of the Professions without mediation. After several months of brainstorming, we decided to keep our website as is and create a subdomain which would serve as the platform for stories of the workplace. We know you have a story to share about what happened today at work, what happened last week, why you quit your job, what you did for a promotion, and we’d love to hear about it, from you directly! We are giving you full access to write on the platform. If you are interested in becoming a writer, become a contributor today.
This is the first time we have ever allowed access to the directly publishing on our website. We are interested in learning why you would like the position. You do not have to write an article or even submit a sample of your work. We would just like to know, in one paragraph, why you would be interested in working with us. We are not sure how long we will be accepting writers on our website, but if you are interested, feel free to sign up!
