Welding is a process in which two or more pieces are fused together using heat or pressure. This is mainly used on metals but can be used on wood. A few materials are known to be unweldable, but this means there are a number of materials that can be welded. To weld materials together there are certain tools that are required and may be additional assistance. Listed below are four examples of those tools.
Automatic Girth Welder
Girth welders are automatic welding machines that are used for completing a tank’s circumferential joints, normally made into a single or double-sided configuration. While using a girth welder, productivity is increased compared to manual welding, as well as improving the result of the welding project. A couple of examples of an automatic girth welder are the AGW-11-U and the AGW-1-U, both of which are in a category called 3 O’clock welders. Another example is the AGW LNG tank welder, a series of self-propelled automatic girth welding equipment.
Auto-Dimming Helmet
A welding helmet is one one of the main required tools for welding. An auto-dimming helmet is an example of this that may increasingly improve your welding experience. The purpose of an auto-dimming helmet is to dim your view only when there is a bright light, apart from this time your sight in the helmet will be relatively clearer as opposed to older welding helmets.
AGW Stiffener Welder
The stiffener welder is a custom built automatic girth welder. The difference between this and other automatic girth welders is that this was made with a wide range of vertical adjustment. Because this tool has such a wide range it allows for tank shell plate stiffeners to be additionally welded to the tank shell plate even after it’s already been welded.
Automatic Vertical Welders
There is an assortment of automatic vertical welders, ranging from an EGW-V to an AVW-Multi pass.
-EGW-V: This is an upward welding machine for storage tank welding.
-EGW-V/D: An inverse electrogas machine used for jacking construction of a storage tank.
EGW-P: This is a lightweight electrogas machine made for power generation and wind tower welding.
VUP: This is a machine with high input welding.
AVW-Multi pass: As opposed to the VUP, this is a low heat input welding machine, made for construction of special steel brands.
Welding can often be a dangerous and/or challenging activity. Luckily, there are many tools invented to help you in your welding journey. Above are just a few examples, but along with these and many more a welding project may be greatly assisted.
