Procrastination Pay
Have you ever wondered how much money you’ve made while sat on the toilet at work? Now you can find out, thanks to a new tool from musicMagpie. The Procrastination Calculator allows you to find out just how much you’re earning while wasting time at work, with the average UK worker earning £370 each year while sat on the toilet. Just enter your salary and how many times you go to the toilet each day and the calculator will tell you how much you’re earning each day, week, month and year.
As well as creating the Procrastination Calculator, musicMagpie surveyed over 2,000 full-time workers from across the UK to discover how we’re wasting time at work. According to their findings, the average Brit spends 9 minutes a day sat on the toilet at work. Men seem to be happier to take their time on the toilet, spending 13 minutes on average, compared to just 5 minutes for women.
Moving away from the toilet, the average Brit spends a total of 2 hours and 9 minutes each day procrastinating, which costs UK businesses over £21 billion each year.
Instant messaging was the biggest timewasting activity, with the average worker spending 28 minutes a day sending messages on their phone. Daydreaming came in second, with Brits spending 20 minutes a day with their head in the clouds.
Here’s a breakdown of the top ways Brits are wasting time at work:
