The Stress Of UK Cities
74% of the UK population have felt overwhelmed or too stressed to cope at some point in the last year. From your personal appearance and finances, to work, relationships, and your health, there is an abundance of stresses we as a nation are experiencing on a day-to-day basis, ranging across all ages, cities and occupations. So who is stressing about what and where, and can we help reduce this?
We have worked with Protectivity to conduct a survey and create a static graphic revealing the most stressed cities and occupations across the UK, as well as looking at what different generations are fretting about most. You can view the piece for yourself here.
Here are a few stories that might be of interest to your readers:
- Cardiff is the UK’s most stressed city – a staggering 55% of people living in Cardiff revealed they felt stressed on a daily basis. In close second is Edinburgh and Manchester at 53%. Surprisingly London comes in at a surprisingly low 10th most stressed UK city
- 52% of people working in healthcare are stressed – this industry comes in as the fifth most stressed, with HR, Legal and Retail, and Catering & Leisure topping the leaderboard
- Our stresses vary across generations – it comes as no surprise that 16-24-year-olds have the most anxiety about personal appearance, social media and relationships. Concerns around work, children and family fall between 35-44-year-olds and health falls in the 55+ category
In addition, we found out the nation’s top stress-reducing activities, which are:
- Watching TV/Films (53%)
- Listening to music (46%)
- Taking a bath/shower (32%)
