Thoughts From The Soul
This information may be too much for some people or may not make sense. It might instigate philosophical debate, religious questions, or put religious beliefs into question, and some may deny this information completely. This topic is not about what or who created the soul, or whether God exists or not, but an attempt to understand the soul and what its meaning and purpose within the human body is. Everything written here is not unique and has been thought of by us all before, but we either brushed it off as nothing, spoke about or thought about it at one time or another, and simply moved on. The knowledge remains universal within all of us, but accessing it takes practice, belief, and confidence in our own abilities to see the true nature that is life, the universe, and everything.
Regardless of what you believe, we can all agree that something within us has given us a spark of life that makes us breathe, function, and operate. When this breath is removed, or when we die, we are no longer animate, and whatever that spark was that gave us life, is now gone. Since it is most likely that this spark contains some type of energy, and energy cannot be eliminated, the energy must convert into a new form. While we could get into black holes and what they do with energy, this is not the topic for that discussion, and I, personally, only know as much as scientists have discovered.
Whether you believe the soul to exist or not, there is breath within all of us that gives us life, and you can call that breath “light”, “life”, “soul”, or whatever you want. Life is the most precious gift that you have been granted and you must take care of it to the best of your ability. In the realm of the great spirit, or where all of our souls reside, though we say souls, there is only just oneness, all, and everything. We are the great living spirit, the soul. We tend to think of ourselves as individual souls because of the confusion that life creates, rendering us with an ego and a personality unique to our specific body that the soul resides in.
All living things have souls. Some reside on a higher consciousness, while others are on a lower consciousness. We might think that animals are on a lower level consciousness, but they function and communicate through gestures and sounds. They may not be able to speak, as we do, but they can understand. A tree may also feel its surroundings and although it has no eyes to see, no mouth to talk, no ability to move its branches on its own, it is a living being, as much as you or I. A tree might be considered lower level consciousness, but it can still feel the weather, the rain, the wind, the heat, or the snow. It may not know pain like you or I, but it can hurt when things are done to it.
Each of us is born into a human body, from which we come, a universal place that holds all truth and knowledge, acceptance, and understanding. There is no difference among us and we are all one together, a unique all-knowing supreme being that is far too complex for us to truly understand. It is not that we cannot understand the realm of souls, the universal spirit, but it is that we have forgotten.
The power of the soul to connect with the brain is extremely unique among all living things. Once the soul enters into the body, in the womb, for which all life has the ability to develop, it attaches itself within the brain. Whether physical or metaphysical, I do not quite know, and no scientist has yet to discover the “light” within the body the grants it to be alive.
We often think of ourselves as humans with souls, but we are actually, in fact, souls within a human body. We are on a journey to understand ourselves, to grow beyond the ego that makes us all feel different. Once upon a time, before time itself existed, we were all the same, all within each other, in what you might think of as a ball of energy.
Something happened, and then everything was, and currently is. Time began and so did we. Without time, there is nothing, and without nothing, there would be no possibility of our existence. This energy came into existence and created everything. What this energy is, who created it, and if it is eternal, we don’t know. What we do know is that something happened that brought us all into reality. Billions of years of things in existence created our very own existence.
Unfortunately, no matter how much research you do, or who you pose the question to, the idea of creation is one that humans needed to have in order to understand how things came to be. While astronomers and scientists might date the universe at XX billion years old, they cannot comprehend that it may actually be older, with several expansions and collapses that needed to occur in order for everything to be the way it is now, and allow for the infinite possibilities of life to occur in the universe.
Getting back to our very own soul… we are each other. You are everybody. What you do to someone else, you essentially are doing to yourself. How you treat others is how you are treating yourself. Our souls are connected in that they are one universal soul, broken into individual parts, to experience the world for what it is. We are born into different lives, with many different gifts and abilities, and sometimes handicaps that come with the nature of human development and genes.
The soul cannot die and therefore you cannot die. Your body does die, but you, your soul, do not essentially die when death occurs. To paraphrase Alan Watts, if you were born in the universe, ever since it was created, everything is always being. Everything is always an experience. Before we came to be, all the cells and bacteria that pull us and hold us together, to form what we are, human beings, when we were simple celled organisms, we were still having an experience. Every living thing is always experiencing the very first cosmic breath that caused everything to be, because it still is being, still becoming, and always will be. There is no true death, for the soul will leave the body, and ultimately, have another experience. To where and what that experience is, we as human beings cannot know where we go. We may be reborn as a human being or we may be reborn as some other living things.
The acceptance of death is a very hard reality to face for many people, but people die everyday, our loved ones, and those around us. Eventually, it will be our time too. Death must exist in order for life to continue to exist. Death reminds of us all that we have forgotten when were born. When we die, there are no more questions because all the answers are infinite and eternal, and while life did matter, what matters most was that the soul got to experience what it was meant to know. Without death, life is impossible, as there would be too many souls experiencing the living the world. Imagine being asleep forever. And then waking up. That is being born. Now imagine being alive and going to sleep forever. That is death.”
Only that you sleep forever as that person you once were. For example, in this life, I am Matthew Gates. When I die, I will not be Matthew Gates ever again. I will never remember who “Matthew Gates” was, even if I were to see the name again. It wouldn’t mean anything to me, as I assume a new identity, but with a more understanding soul. However, I do have the opportunity to be born again, whether in a human life, or another life far off in another universe. The Egyptians and many other Ancient cultures were absolutely right in knowing that when you die, it was never the end. The repeated saying is that “death is only the beginning.”
The beginning of each new life. Everyone experiences different lives over the course of the billions upon billions of years of existence. It is the soul, the light, that provides all life, of which we are all apart of, and it is how we choose to live our lives that make us realize how much we are identical in relation to the light. When a soul chooses to be a part of the light and does good for other souls, it has an easier time understanding what to do next. When a soul chooses to be bad and greedy and to not acknowledge other souls, it must do additional work in the next lifetime in order to make up for whatever it did in the last life.
How could the Ancient cultures understand this? Were there people born in their society from a past life that came and told them? Why would they take great care and have a great respect for the dead? The death held the secrets they could not know, until it was the next life, for which we all could figure it out. Each life, however, just leads us to forget the information we had before, and we start over again, but the truth is: our soul grows with each life. We are all part of the same light we call the soul, but being born into an individual allows us to experience the separation from being “one”. Somewhere along the line, what the Ancient cultures knew was lost with the advent of the modern religion.
In getting back to the universe, while I am no expert to define what a black hole is, Stephen Hawkin believes it is an information killer, a light absorption beacon of sorts. If the purpose of a black hole is to destroy life, and the amount of black holes, that have developed since the beginning of time have yet to consume and destroy all life. Why is that life continues to grow and exist? The answer lies right in the garden.
Given enough time, whether it be from birds dropping seeds or other creatures spreading the seeds of the Earth, a garden will always grow. It could take a million years for a plant to grow in the garden, but the universe is infinite time, so a million years is nothing. Taking all of this into consideration: The universe is a complex system that was designed, with two possible outcomes: somethingness (continued existence of the universe) and nothingness (the black hole that swallows the universe).
When did life begin? Life on Earth has been proven to have started about 4 billion years ago. The age of life outside of our universe and how it began is and will always remain a mystery, for there is just some information that is considered incomprehensible. Would it matter if we knew the truth about the infinite number of universes when we look up at night? If we knew that there were billions of species before us, billions of universes, some that are coming into existence, others that no longer exist. It seems that with this probability: Life always was and will be. When life ceases to exist, than there will be nothing again. Unfortunately or fortunately, once the universe began, there was no stopping it and there will never be an end.
The whole system of universes is as vast and complex as the very neurons that connect our brain paths. We can never know what the entire universe is, how vast it really is, how small it was, or how it began. We only know that it is logical to state that the universe will never end. From the logic that we can deduce: some form of energy has always existed, even in the nothingness that was.
Once this energy became aware of itself, all of life began. There are an infinite amount of universes in the existing system, but life is limited, as the universe expands, it tries to understand what is necessary for different types of life to exist. Why the universe is trying to understand itself and why it matters is uncertain. The universe is simply all of us, everything, always, and forever experiencing itself.
In Judaism, it is believed that you are born knowing everything, because you are a soul. An angel visits you in the womb, and kisses your upper lip, which causes the indentation that all humans have, and also, it causes us to forget the knowledge of our past lives and anything that happened before, because the soul must continue learning and doing what it was doing, but it must not recognize itself at first in order to understand what it needs to do. Sounds crazy, but if the answers are given to us up front, how can we truly understand what it means to live?
In order to stick with the idea that we only live one life to match the Jewish belief: It is the fact that the soul is born with all the knowledge of everything. Every soul is given a purpose, but it must learn that purpose by being alive and experiencing the world.
A tree does not get strong without the rain and the wind. It needs those elements thrown at it in order to become a stronger tree. Just as the soul must learn how to survive and become strong with the life it was given. It discovers its purpose with the elements that surround it.
