Backpack

Is a bag with straps supported by the shoulders with doublehandles and lies across the back.

Baguette

Relatively long from side to side and small from top tobottom

Barrel

Cylindrical, resembles a barrel

Bucket

Roomy, shaped like a bucket, usually has an open top andshoulder strap.

Clutch

Small but long, without a handle, for the evening. Ifsimilar to a letter, it’s called envelope.

Doctor

Flat-bottomed with rounded sides, slightly elongated and twolarge handles over a collapsible metal frame.

Duffle/sea

Large bags for travel and sports. Used mainly by the sailorsin the past.

Frame

Quite rigid, rectangular shaped, similar to a money purse.

Wristlet

Clutch shaped with an attached strap

Tote

Large, double handled with an open top and open maincompartment.

Shopper

Rectangular, often in canvas, perfect for shopping, singlehandled

Quilted

Typically, Features a top stitched pattern similar to aquilt.

Saddle

Originally a bag hung over a saddle

Satchel

Top closure, top carry handle, flat bottom; similar tovintage school bags

Hobo

Large, shoulder carried, with a main compartment closure

Messenger

With a long strap to be worn across the body; if smaller,it’s a sling bag

Minaudiere

Often covered in beads or crystals with a hard case.
