The Race To Space Is A Billionaire’s Mission

Space exploration is no longer reserved for scientists alone, but some of the world’s most famous and successful entrepreneurs, with the likes of Richard Branson, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos making significant strides in the industry that is set to be worth a staggering $1 trillion by 2040.

But which of these billionaires are leading the way and who will be the first to crack the market?

We have worked with RS Components to create a static graphic revealing the key milestones each billionaire has achieved so far in the space race. Dating all the way back to the year 2000, these men have been launching their way to space for almost two decades.

• Richard Branson plans to begin commercial flights with Virgin Galactic this year – after SpaceShipTwo’s success in 2018 becoming the first US commercial human flight to reach space since 2011, Branson is upping the pace in his space ventures

• Musk reveals the rocket that will be taking people to the Moon and Mars – released in 2019, Musk’s Starship is an exciting prospect for those that want to visit outer space

• Jeff Bezos was first out of the three to be involved in the space race, founding Blue Origin in 2000, nearly twenty years ago! Musk founded SpaceX two years later and then Branson joined third in 2004 with Virgin Galactic

• Bezos invested a staggering $500 million of his own money into Blue Origin – spacecraft really is no cheap hobby
