Challenges to Managing Virtual Assistants and How to Overcome Them
Possessing a mobile workforce is a current trend in the business industry as it proves beneficial to both the employer and the employee acting as a virtual assistant. Employers save money on office space and equipment without sacrificing work quality, productivity, and time. Remote workers can choose to work anywhere, from the comforts of their homes to that of coffee shops, while cutting down on transportation costs and travel time.
Investing in a remote workforce might be enticing, but it has its challenges. Lack of personal contact leads to miscommunication when the only communication present between employer and employee is by giving out tasks and acknowledging accomplished ones, and another result is that the workforce is much harder to monitor the employees’ productivity.
Though there are challenges with having a mobile workforce of virtual assistants, there are solutions available to make investing in a mobile workforce worthwhile.
One solution for the matter of miscommunication is the hiring of the people you need through several rounds of interviews to determine their communication skills. Virtual assistants are still employees who need excellent communication skills through writing and calls.
Tracking the employees’ productivity is already hard in a standard office setting and even more so when there is no personal contact, and one solution is by using specific applications that would let you see how long your employees finish a particular task by tracking their time.
There are other solutions presented in OVA Virtual’s infographic that can make investing in a mobile workforce viable.
