Fish and chips, a Sunday roast, and a full English breakfast are just some traditional British meals that may spring to mind when someone asks you what British cuisine consists of.
However, in a nation of foodies, we all have different taste buds to please – one person’s favourite meal may be another’s foodie nightmare. So how different are our eating habits in the UK? Which meals are our favourites? And how do our cooking habits vary from region to region?
Leisure has surveyed over 1,000 UK residents to reveal the nation’s most interesting eating habits. You can view the findings in full here.
Here are some key stories from the research that you might be interested in:
Pizza appears on people’s weekly menus the most, with 43% having it at least once a week. This is followed by Spaghetti Bolognese (41%) and a Sunday roast (41%)
Those based in Edinburgh, as well as men, those aged over 55 years old, and vegans were all most likely to eat their evening meal alone
Belfast (56.3%), Leeds (42.5%) and Brighton (34.8%) were crowned as the most adventurous foodie UK cities, with respondents having tried 12 or more different cuisines
Chinese was revealed as the most tried cuisine in the UK, followed by Italian and Indian foods
The average Brit spends 47 minutes per day cooking
