Conquering The World: Chatbots
Over the last few years or so, chatbots have been developed to become a core component of customer service on social media platforms, or cool features such as Siri or Amazon Alexa on smart devices.
By 2029, it is expected that chatbots will be so advanced that chatting to them will be indistinguishable from chatting with other human beings which, for some of us, is a very scary thought. At the moment, there are around 30,000 chatbots operating on Facebook and this number is rapidly growing.
Although it is usually quite easy to figure out when we are talking to a chatbot, the thought that they will become so advanced so as to be indistinguishable from other humans is quite a strange thought, yet a very interesting one at the same time.
Chatbots will grow in popularity over the next five years or so, and they will become a common part of the operations of large companies. Nordstrom was among the first chatbot adopters, but even smaller companies are expected to jump on the chatbot bandwagon and utilize them, as they are much cheaper and easier to employ than other humans.
As the industry grows, rudimentary chat functions of a basic or even intermediate level between humans and other humans will become a thing of the past, according to experts who are operating in the chatbot industry. With all that being said, though, it is unlikely that chatbots are going to replace humans entirely.
