Motorsport Events in London

There are lot of talks these days regarding London Grand Prix. And the thought is still lurking whether this motorsport event will occur or not.

With few days remaining, there is certainly a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness to organize this event but the hurdle remains in forms of environment protection and commercial as well.  There have been law prohibiting Motor racing on Public roads along with restrictions on Emissions & Noise. Activation of “break clause” in the contract by Silverstone stating that the exorbitant hosting fee for the F1s has heated the argument further.

While the discussion & dialogues goes on to convene this event let’s have a look at the Infographic which encapsulates the hullabaloo surrounding London Grand Prix, probable circuit for the race, hurdles so far and opinions from the bigwigs.

LONDON GP will it ever be?

Due to a new law being passed, allowing England’s public roads to host Motorsports, we find ourselves getting closer and closer to having a British Grand Prix in London. But will it happen?

WHY HASN’T THERE BEEN A LONDON GP IN THE PAST?

The Law. It would have been illegal. Motor racing has, as of April 2017 not been allowed on public roads.

Emissions. Currently there are emissions restrictions within London. Formula One cars use a lot of fuel in a short space of time.

Noise. London also has noise restrictions. The capital is loud enough without the roar of 20 F1 cars hurtling around the city.

Logistics. It would be extremely difficult, but not impossible, to stage a race in London. An F1 Grand Prix would necessitate many of London’s streets being closed for at least a week.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR SILVERSTONE

IF A NEW “BRITISH” GRAND PRIX BASED ON LONDON’S STREETS GETS THE GREEN LIGHT, THIS COULD MEAN THE END OF F1 AT SILVERSTONE, BUT WHY?

The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) are considering dropping the race due to increasing costs.

The BRDC are also considering activating a break clause in their contract.

Will consider all implications before making a final decision by “mid-year”.

Cary’s stance on Silverstone…
