New Study Reveals Ingredients for America’s Dream Neighborhood

As the American Dream morphs with new generations, so too does the ideal neighborhood.

In a new survey from ImproveNet, more than 2,000 Americans weighed in on their neighborhood ideals and what their dream neighborhood looks like in 2019.

Thee survey looked at several key factors including what must be included in a dream neighborhood, what’s the ideal setting for a dream neighborhood, how close would you like to be to your neighbors, whether or not you live in your dream neighborhood now, how close do you currently live to your dream neighborhood and whether or not you currently contribute in any way to your current neighborhood.

Listed below are some key takeaways from the survey:

• 50% of Americans say their dream neighborhood is in a nearby town, only 30% currently live in their dream neighborhood
• 37% of people living in cities would prefer to be in the suburbs or exurbs
• 41% of Americans have made no effort to improve their current neighborhood
• 9 in 10 Americans prefer to be equally affluent to their neighbors

Respondents were surveyed in May of 2019. 2,210 Americans between the ages of 18 and 76 were surveyed. The full analysis and survey results from Improvenet can be seen in this infographic.
