Glass bottle packaging has been around for a long time. Glass packaging is used mainly in food and beverage industry because of many benefits it offers. Here, we’ll explore the increasing popularity and advantages of glass bottle packaging, including protection, sustainability and image. Glass is made from natural materials without the need of any chemical during the process. It can effectively protect food while maintaining the purity and taste. Glass is 100% recyclable and it can be recycled continuously without losing quality. New glass bottles can be made with recycled glass containers. EU glass packaging industry is growing rapidly. Glass bottles are 30% lighter today compared to the bottles manufactures 20 years ago. In last 25 years, production has increased by 39.5% which clearly indicates the growing demand of glass packaging. 87% of the Europeans prefer glass. People prefer environment friendly packaging materials like glass and cardboard. If we talk about recycling then here is another interesting point – 70% of the glass bottles are collected annually for recycling. Using glass rather than plastic drastically reduces landfill. It also saves energy on plastic’s ineffective recycling procedure.
Recycled glass uses 40% less energy than manufacturing new glass. Glass is usually more expensive than plastic packaging but it’s a one-time investment and it saves you money in the long run.
