These are the 10 Best Confessions of 2017:
1. How To Earn A Great Living From The Craft Of Sewing
If there is any confession I must mention, this confession was published in 2017 and by the end of 2017 had over 40,000 visitors. This is the fastest growing confession on Confessions of the Professions so it is the first to be highlighted in our count. Upon reading this confession, it is abundantly clear that a skill you may have picked up as a child by learning from your grandmother or mother, learned in Home Ec (Home Economics) in high school, or just learned from a YouTube video, has given you a great valuable skillset. Sewing takes time and patience, but with enough practice and knowledge, you can start your own business of sewing and make a living doing it!
2. What Your Career Says About You
You are born not knowing what your purpose is or what you might enjoy in life. For some, it comes so naturally and they choose to be artists, teachers, judges, doctors, police officers, and many more. Others do not choose the jobs they end up at, as they may have made certain choices in life that landed them there. There are many others who actually do get as educated as they possibly can and land in jobs they love. Still many others get positions they absolutely fall in love with, and of course, they would tell you they never would have dreamed a decade ago where they would be right now. This confession highlights the fact that no matter what career you choose, it is the path that you choose to make that will get you where you want to be in your life.
3. Military to Civilian [Infographic]
The military is probably the largest employer of Americans in the United States. It employs everyone from computer scientists, engineers, doctors, lawyers, recruiters, investigators, mission planners, etc. The military has several main branches including the Air Force, National Guard, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy and within those, the Reserves. Required years of service range from 2-4 years but many people may choose to serve a career in the military.
For those who serve and are discharged, they must learn to function in society. While there may be some services of the military that may prepare former marines or army soldiers for civilian life, it is likely that there are many who are not receiving this type of service and help. It does help that there are many companies who favor hiring military, but many who serve in the military are not sure of how to convert their skills to civilian life. This infographic guides military officials with conversion to civilian life.
4. The Anatomy Of A Successful Entrepreneur [Infographic]
In 2017 and likely the future, we are going to see a huge increase in something beyond the average worker, as more and more people start up businesses, start their own companies, or come up with new ideas that they try to bring to life and market for money. We are going to see a rise in entrepreneurs, who range from all ages, as young as 16, 17, or 18 years old to older than 80 years old. Entrepreneurs are what keep the world’s ideas innovative and exciting. This infographic helps those to understand what makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur.
5. The Great State of Colorado
If you have never been to the Great State of Colorado located within the heart of the United States, I suggest you go for three reasons: good people, good hiking, and good cannabis. Bonus if you go and combine all three together into one activity, that is: hanging out with good people, while doing some good hiking, and smoking or eating some good cannabis. The first state to legalize a medicinal plant that has some wonderful side effects on the human being, outlined are the reasons for why Colorado is great state to not only live in, but to travel to and experience as well.
6. Drug User Decriminalization
With a nation where many people are becoming statistics, hooked on drugs, specifically a drug fueled by the American government we know as prescription drugs, or their plant name, opiates, or by their more scientific name, opioids, or by its illicit name, heroin, we are losing too many family and friends because they got hooked on drugs. We would never want to think of them as or call them criminals, and why should we? They were good people. They were our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. People with addiction are not criminals and families who want to help them should not have to “turn them in” to not get help. Help comes in the form of law enforcement and government agencies deenforcing and decriminalizing drug use and more addiction centers and hospitals, as well as law enforcement, being there for people who are addicted and need help.
7. Get Your Shit Together
Yesterday was a blessing. Today is a blessing. Tomorrow will be a blessing. Everyday you wake up is a blessing, for there will be one day, where you will not wake up at all. It is a day we never want to think about, but unfortunately, there are many factors that may contribute to that day, and at any moment, you could die or a family member could die. Your business on this Earth is finished. There is no going back, doing things you should have done, saying things that you should have said, or taking care of your business. Once you are dead, your business is done for you. Unfortunately, for family, business is not always done, and your family may be left trying to track down companies you did business with, whether mortgage, credit card, banks, or loans. While your family is technically not responsible for your debt, they still need to inform everyone that you did business with that you are now deceased. It is a harsh reality that all of us must come to terms with, but it is better to treat is as another task you must perform in your life and get your shit together.
8. Top 10 Lowest Paid Professions In The Healthcare Industry
We would like to think that the health care industry is run by doctors, nurses, and the very patients that must use their services. When you think about all that it takes to run a hospital, you have administrators, secretaries, security, mobile, food aides, nurse aides, maintenance, cleaning staff, etc. These people are the lifeblood of the hospital that keep it running smoothly and while administrators, doctors, and nurses may make a good living, the other professions in the healthcare industry are paid a much lower salary. Despite their lower salaries, they are tasked with keeping the hospital running, and they continue to do so, to bring together a place called a hospital or medical facility.
9. Hard Truths About Life I Wish I Knew Earlier
No matter what you know about life or what you think about life, there is always more to know. There is always more to learn. There is so much wisdom to be had in this world, but there are certain truths that remain constant and universal. No matter what country you visit, no matter who you speak with, no matter what their background, there are some universal truths that the human being must learn or will eventually learn. From knowing that we are all going to die one day, to accepting that money is a fact of life that keeps the human race productive, to knowing that sometimes, in the end, no matter how many friends or family you have, you have to develop a certain independence, because whether they want to be there or not, family and friends cannot always be there for you. Despite not knowing earlier in your life, there are just some truths that were meant for you to learn and experience later in life.
