Wouldn’t it be nice to have few million quid knocking around? And not a clue what to do with it? Well, if you are a lucky millionaire or one of the rich and famous celebrities gracing our movie and tv screens, then buying a private island is definitely the way to go!
Some of the world’s most famous actors, musicians and business people now own their very own chunk of perfection. While some choose to develop their island into a money making holiday resort, open to the (uber rich) public, others use them as their private getaway where they can escape from the eyes of the world.
Famous faces
Many movie stars own their own private islands. Just take a look at Leonardo Di Caprio, who is currently turning his into an eco-friendly resort.
Owner Richard Branson has owned his islands for quite some time. They’ve certainly had more than their share of bad luck.. Necker Island suffered fire damage in 2011 and more recently bother Necker and sister island Moskito were in the path of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
